Dodgy Knees

Hi
Can anyone give me any advice on whether running on a treadmill for 25 mins twice a week is bad for your knees if you have fairly dodgy knees? One that clicks when going up stairs....
Sounds stupid question I know!

the little time that you run on them shouldnt be a problem, although if you can run outside on grass that would be less impact on them, also a good suportive pair of running shoes if you havnt already. a better option tho would be to use the cross trainers or bikes both of which are zero impact on the knees :)

Tredmills are far better than running outdoors on a hard surface. If your find your getting pain try using a cross trainer which are excellent for cardio and have less stres on the knees

Not as stupid as it sounds actually! Mine do the same, went to a Physio about it and was basically told to stop doing any sport that required heavy footwork... Needless to say, I completely ignored the advice, went and played 30mins of light football every once in a while and felt fantastic! If footies not an option for you try some form of yoga/stretching to help limber up your joints, take it easy on the alcohol, sugary and fatty foods.
Hope this helps ;-)

my knees click too going up stairs! Is that a common thing? Perhaps should start a clicking knee group!:)
About your question i dont know I'm afraid. I do know though that I think its generally better to run outdoors and if you have weakish muscles in your legs do some machine work in the gym. If in the gym the bikes are fantastic for weight loss and general fitness especially if you keep over 90 rpm...100 if you are really going. Strenght doesnt matter.
All in all though 2 x 25mins on running road shouldnt been bad really - sorry to say thats not too far!:)
